|Birth: ||Nov. 21, 1883|
|Death: ||Apr. 17, 1967|
Alice Key (Tate) Speir was born to Jeremiah Thomas Tate and Amanda Louisa (Dyer) Tate, one of six children. She first married to Robert Suttles, an ex-policeman in Atlanta and had five children. She divorced him and married James Henry Speir before 1916. They had five children that I have found so far to include twin girls. I am not sure when Alice and her family moved to Little Rock Arkansas but that is where she and her husband died and are buried together in Hicks Cemetery.
Alice was the mother of Robert Harvey Suttles from her first marriage. Robert was a Marine during the Korean Conflict. According to the records at Ancestry for the database: World War II and Korean Conflict Veterans Interred Overseas, Robert was missing and received the Purple Heart Award. His death is listed as Dec 27, 1942. I can only imagine the pain Alice had felt two days after Christmas to learn that her brave son was listed as dead and missing.
