CURTIS WAYNE TAPP

Curtis Wayne Tapp was born to Thomas Paschal and Susan (Richardson) Tapp on February 5, 1922 in Willow, Oklahoma and departed this life in Clinton, Oklahoma on January 17, 2013 at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 12days.

Curtis grew up Willow, OK and graduated High School from there. He attended Methodist University for two years before being drafted into the US Army Air Corp. During his service he taught gunnery in Laredo, TX. After his service he finished his degree at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. He married Verma Williams on September 6, 1947 in Douglas, GA. They made their home in Willow in 1961 when he went to work for the Granite Reformatory as a teacher, until retirement in 1981. They owned Family Health Food Center in Elk City, OK for 20 years. He enjoyed growing things in his garden and orchard and loved animals. His was a member of the Oklahoma Educators Association and the Granite, OK Assembly of God and attended the Carter, OK Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by 5 brothers, John E., Ernest, Thomas Jr., Cletus and Dobie Tapp; a sister, Edith Bridge; 2 half brothers, Roy and Orville Tapp and a half sister, Ethel McMurtry.

Survivors include his wife of the home; 2 sons, Edward Tapp and wife Sheri of Yukon, OK and David Tapp and wife Jamie of Hubbard, TX; a daughter, Susan and husband John Uptergrove Sr. of Mineral Wells, TX; 8 grandchildren, Leann, Christie, Kenneth, Mandy, Penny, Melissa, Rachel and John Jr.; 4 great grandchildren, Gavin, Madeline, Jude and Abigail and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services was at 2:00 p.m., January 21, 2013 at First Methodist Church, Willow, Oklahoma. Burial followed in Willow Cemetery, Willow, Oklahoma under direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma.
