Runaway Bay ~ Chuck "General" Tanner, 74, a retired U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Runaway Bay.
Graveside service is 2:15 p.m. Monday, April 8th at DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home.

Bro. Guy Orbison, Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers include the DFW Cemetery Honor Guard.

Chuck was born on June 2, 1938 to Chalmer and Gertrude (Cornelius) Tanner in Coleman County, Alabama. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Chuck was united in marriage to Anita Beth Balch on June 15, 1994 in Lake Tahoe, California. He worked 10 years as a starter at South Padre Island Golf Club during the Texas winter seasons. Chuck worked for 2 years at the Pro Shop at Runaway Bay and 2 years he worked as a substitute teacher in the Fort Worth ISD. He worked 9 years in civil service including 1 year with the CIA. Chuck is retired military after 30 years in the Air Force and was a Chief Master Sergeant.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 18 years, Beth Tanner of Runaway Bay; his daughter, Karen Beth Goad of Coppell; his granddaughter, Katie Anne Goad of Coppell; his brother, Rick Tanner and wife Sheila of Runaway Bay; other family members and a host of friends.
