Mrs. Nancy Katherine Burton, wife of Ed Burton, long time citizens of Young County, suffered a paralytic stroke and passed away two hours later. Her death occurred at the family home three miles east of Graham.
The family moved to Young County in 1892 from Arkansas.
Edward D. Burton married Nancy Tannehill on 22 July 1880 at Crawford County, Arkansas. Five children were born to this union.
Mrs. Burton joined the Methodist Church in 1874, when a girl and she was a member of the Graham Methodist church. She was a dutiful wife, kind and loving mother and a friendly neighbor.
Services were held at the family home with Rev. J.H. Baldrige and Rev. Franklin officiating according to family notes.
Survived by her husband; two daughters - Mrs. J.L. "Georgie" Martin and Mrs. L.L. Alice" Penn; one brother - J.V. Tannehill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sons.
1900 Graham, TX census shows five children born, two alive.
