Funeral services for Mrs. Donald (Ruth E.) Allison, 65, of 804 N. 9th St., Clear Lake, were at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Mrs. Allison, a teacher in the Woden-Crystal Lake school system, died Monday (Dec. 10, 1984) at a Mason City hospital. The Rev. James Louk officiated. Graveside services were at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The family requests memorials be made to the Clear Lake United Methodist Church School and Education program.

Mrs. Allison was born Dec. 6, 1919 in Clarion, to Joseph and Lydia (Hamer) Tallman. She attended school in Clarion and attended Eagle Grove Junior College, as well as Iowa State Teacher's College, Cedar Falls. She taught in the rural schools in Wright County and also taught in Rutland, Kensett and Rowan before her marriage to Donald L. Allison on June 15, 1947 in Clarion. They lived in the rural Latimer and Coulter areas before moving to Clear Lake in 1955, where they owned and operated the Lake Gift Shop from 1955-72. Mrs. Allison attended the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, where she specialized in remedial reading. She taught in the Plymouth center of the North Central school district and later went back to UNI, where she received her master's degree in learning disabilities. She taught in the Woden-Crystal Lake school system until becoming ill this year. Mrs. Allison was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. She was a member of Park Chapter 35, Order of the Eastern Star and a past worthy matron and past grand committee member of the Eastern Star. A member of Alchor White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 6 of Mason City, Mrs. Allison was past worthy high priestess and there were many past grand appointments that she received. She was also a member of the Grand Cross, ACLD, Computer Club of Iowa, Mason City, and a life-time member of the Women's Society of Christian Services of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Donald L., Clear Lake; one son, Byron L., Clear Lake; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Leonard (Alice) Lenze, Mason City; and one brother, Russell C. Tallman, Washington, Ill. Mary Jane Reynolds was organist and Marilyn Sadler soloist for the service. Pallbearers were Joseph Maier, Bernard Maier, Marvin Hamer, Melvin Mosher, Kenneth Hamer, and Gary Mosher.
