Eva M. Bryson entered into Eternal Life on Monday, January 12, 2009, following her stay in Medilodge of Yale.
She was born December 19, 1913 in Doyle, Michigan, a daughter to the late Lee and Rosa (Maples) Tallmadge.
She married Arthur F. Bryson on December 24, 1934 in Armada and he preceded her in death on July 4, 1980.
Eva served as the City of Memphis Assessor for many years and as City Historian for about 30 years.
She also owned and operated the flower shop in Memphis for some 10 years and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
She was very active in civic activities having worked with the PTA, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Youth Recreation/Youth Center and was a staunch supporter of the Memphis Library having served on the Library Board for many years beginning in 1973.
Eva was also employed by Vlasic and worked in the pickle factory when they were located in Memphis.
She was a Life Member of the Order of Eastern Star and was active with them for some 47 years.
She also had served on the St. Clair County Advisory Board and clerk of the Congregational Church for 20 years.
Surviving are her children, Evelyn Hancock of S. Carolina, Lee Bryson of California, John A. Bryson of Memphis, Anna (DeWitt) Hart of Burtchville, and James Bryson of TX; 17 grandchildren 32 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband; granddaughter, Susan Green; brother, Charles Tallmadge; and sisters, Gladys Dunsmore and Mildred Lutz.
Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. in Kammeraad Funeral Home, Memphis, with Pastor James Huff officiating.
Interment will be in Memphis Cemetery.
Visiting in the funeral home is Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Memphis Library.
