Anchor Point resident Clive Fredrick Talkington, 71, died of congestive heart failure July 23, 2008, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A memorial service and celebration of life will take place at 3 p.m. Monday at Elks Club 2127 in Homer. An additional memorial service will take place in Montana this fall. Clive was born Feb. 19, 1937, in Belfield, N.D., to Russell and Ethel Talkington, the eldest of five children. Clive spent most of his childhood in Montana. He graduated high school in Harlowton, Mont., in 1955. He married Marilyn J. McBride that same year on Sept. 4 in Harlowton. They had three children: Gail, Terry and Todd. Clive worked for Milwaukee Railroad and was a project engineer for the Montana Highway Department. He continued to work as a project engineer throughout the Northwest until retirement. In 1980, Clive and Marilyn moved to Southeast Alaska to commercial fish for nine years. In 1995, they moved to Anchor Point and opened Clive's Fishing Guide Service and Lodging, which is still in operation. Clive was a member of Elks Club 2127. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to be outside, enjoying all that Alaska has to offer. His family wrote: "Clive will be dearly missed by his large family and many friends and neighbors. He loved to fish and entertain others. Clive willingly passed on his exceptional knowledge about the art of fishing in the Northwest, especially to those interested in pursuing king salmon." He is survived by Marilyn, his beloved wife of 52 years; sisters, Kay Paulsrud and Hope Paulsrud; brother, Owen Talkington; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Gary Burmeister; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Michelle Talkington and Todd and Marni Talkington; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
