Son of John Philip and Eleanora Anderson Taliaferro
Hansford E. Taliaferro, 79, died Saturday morning in his home at Zanoni. He had been a semi-invalid for a great many years but was critically ill only a short time. Funeral services were held at 12 o'clock Monday at Ware Church, of which the deceased was a communicant, with burial in the family lot in the cemetery.
Mr. Taliaferro was born at Toddsbury March 30, 1858, and was a lifelong resident of the county, being engaged in the mercantile business until a few years ago, when he retired. He is survived by his widow and one daughter, Mrs. John T. DuVal. A son, Perrin Taliaferro, died January 2 of this year.
The funeral service was conducted by his rector, Dr. H. S. Osburn, and the pall was borne by Dr. H. A. Tabb, Wallace Robinson, Mann Page, Allan Hicks, John T. Seawell, Dunham Withers, Charles Robins and George E. Cary.
The sterling character and unselfish nature of the deceased were exemplified by his unfailing patience under an increasing burden of physical suffering. A friend said that, in the many times he had visited Mr. Taliaferro, he had never heard him utter a word of complaint or by any sign indicate dissatisfaction with his lot, seeming only concerned for the happiness and welfare of others. Such fortitude and unselfishness are rare enough in humanity to set their possessor apart as one in a million.
