Mrs. Cordelia Cahoon, 'relict of the late Lyman H. Cahoon, died last evening at her home, 1332 Wisconsin St. In the death of Mrs. Cahoon there passes away another of the oldest residents and pioneers who has resided here for half a century, most of the time in active business, beloved and respected by the entire community. Always kind-hearted, generous and ever ready to lend a helping hand to the poor and needy, she was much sought after. Few women possessed more noble qualifications and from the highest to the lowest circles she was ever praised for her many good deeds. Truly a good woman has gone to her reward and one who will ever be mourned by all who knew her.
Deceased was born at Kingston, Ontario, Canada, April 15, 1822, and her maiden name was Miss Cordelia L. Tague. December 26, 1841, she was married to Lyman H. Cahoon at Red Creek, N. Y. For a. time they resided at Auburn, NY, and from that place removed to Solon, IL. In 1848 they located in Racine and on November 4, 1868, Mr. Cahoon died. Mrs. Cahoon continued to reside in the city up to the time of her death and most of the time conducted a millinery store and thus became identified with all classes of people.
There survives her two daughters, Miss Florence A. Cahoon and Mrs. F. T. Gates, Mont Clair, N. J., and five sons, C. A. Cahoon, Temple, Texas; E. E. Cahoon; Willis L., Louis L. and Edward E. Cahoon, of Racine. They will have the sympathy of all in their irreparable loss of a loving and kind mother.
The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the house, 1332 Wisconsin St.
