Elizabeth (Taggart) Schuster, 72, of Anderson, died unexpectedly on May 7, 2008 at Community Hospital Anderson.
She was born Feb. 4, 1936 in Connersville. She was married to her present husband, M. Gary Schuster Sr. for 28 years. Elizabeth worked for many years as an English teacher at the local high schools. She has been involved with substance abuse counseling for almost 25 years at various locations, most notably in her last 15 years at St. Vincent's Hospital in Anderson. She was an elder at Central Christian Church and served faithfully on many church committees.
She was a graduate of Butler University and held a master's degree from Ball State University in journalism.
Elizabeth loved cooking, flowers, birds, reading, music and dancing. She loved all people in general and was an avid stargazer. She doted on her grandchildren and was always ready on a moment's notice to try most anything with them. She was an outstanding mother and always ready to listen. She lived every day to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband; children, George (wife, Kathie) Babcoke, Gary (wife, Myshelle) Babcoke II and Ginger (husband, Kurt) Wiesjohn; stepchildren, M. Gary (wife, Bobbe) Schuster, Jr., Richard K. (wife, Jennifer) Schuster, Tonya Schuster and Myles Billehimer; grandchildren, Abigail Babcoke, Aimee Duval, Allison Duval (husband, Andy) Guenther, Michael, Mathew, Mitchell and Meghan Wiesjohn, Gary Babcoke III and William Babcoke; step-grandchildren, Neil, Nick and Lindsay Schuster, Bea Schuster, Ashley and Adrienne Schuster, Amy Billehimer and Heidi LaFranboise; great-grandchildren, Bella Duval, A.J., Kyle, Emma Guenther and Nalana and Isabelle LaFranboise; two sisters, Gana Taggart (husband, Karl) Power of Cincinnati and Peggy Taggart (husband, Richard) Johnston of Chicago; brother-in-law, John K. (wife, Ann) Schuster; niece, Angie Johnston (husband, Brad) Hass; step-nieces, Tami Schuster, Tomi Dee (husband, Mike) Oehlschaeger and Tina Carter; and step-nephew, Tim (wife, Deirdre) Fisher.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. George Taggart; mother, Margaret Ricketts Taggart; daughter, Gwynne Babcoke; nephew, Jeff Johnston; and several aunts and uncles
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Central Christian Church with the Revs. Rick Vale and Linda McKiernan-Allen officiating. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery in Rising Sun.
