She was born November 3, 1921 at Amba, Kentucky. She was the 4th child of James Thomas Tackett and Lilly Sword Tackett. She spent her childhood in Kentucky and three years in her early teens working for an Aunt and Uncle in Ohio.
About the age of seventeen, she moved with her family to Nampa, Idaho where, along with other family members, she did farm labor on the Tiegs' farms. It was there that she met Deleon Thiel. They were married October 30, 1941, and from this union came 3 children: Marlene Sheron, Wayne Deleon and Howard. They divorced in 1985.
She spent many years being a farm wife, raising her children, tending to bountiful gardens, proving her entrepreneurial skills by selling butter, eggs and poultry.
She eventually went to work for Albertson's Poultry Processing and later worked in housekeeping for the Idaho State School. She also worked as an aide at Heritage Place, cared for numerous elderly friends through hospice, and did well in sales with Beauty Counselor and Forever Living Products.
Myrtle will be remembered for her determination, generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, and caring ways toward others. Her hands were always busy with chores and giving.
She was preceded in death by infant sister, Mary Jane; infant son, Howard; parents, James and Lilly; sisters, Emma Campbell, Augusta Michael, Bertha Pennington; brothers, Roy Tackett, Ballard Tackett, James Tackett, Charles Tackett, Arlan Tackett and Jack Tackett; and former husband, Deleon Thiel.
