Death: Nov. 7, 1942

Texas, USA

The last rites for Mrs. Auguste Pauline Tackel was held at the First Baptist Church in this city Monday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mitchell Prifogle, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church here, but who lives in the city of Bowie, officiating. After which her remains were carried to Paradise by the Hawkins Funeral Home ambulance and laid to rest in the family plot in that city.

Auguste Pauline Seidel was born August 31, 1857, in Schletien, Germany. She was baptized into the Evangelical Lutheran church and then confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1871. She was married to Gustav Adolph Lehmburg August 7, 1881, and came to Texas in October of the same year. This union was blessed with two sons, Paul and Adolph Lehmburg. Mr. Lehmburg passed away in April 1888. She married John Carl Tackel in April 1889 in Decatur. To this union were born two children, Marie Sophia, and Albert Edward Tackel. The former died at the age of 8 years. Her second husband preceded her in death and passed away on May 20, 1926.

She is survived by her three sons, Paul and Adolph Lehmburg and Albert Tackel, and 14 grandchildren. Mrs. Tackel lived a noble Christian life. Passing away at the home of her son, Paul, sometime during Friday night or early Saturday morning as the family found her dead in bed Saturday morning, after they had gotten up. She seemed to be in her usual health when she retired for the night and did not claim of being ill or suffering any pain. There were no signs of a struggle and it seems that she passed on peacefully. She was 85 years of age when the end came and had been active in social affairs and in her church work. A large congregation of sorrowing friends attended the funeral and followed the body to the graveside at Paradise.
