Birth: Jul. 9, 1897, USA
Death: Apr. 2, 1927

Lincoln Republican, Thursday May 29, 1927

Mary Jane Tabor Adkins, daughter of J.M. and Rachel Tabor was born April 4, 1897 and departed this life on May 3, 1927, age 31 years and 27 days. She was converted when young and joined the Freewill Baptist Church at about 13 years of age. She was married to Elbert Adkins, son of Lafe Adkins of Hamlin, WV, and to this union were born six children, two of whom preceded her to that beautiful home on high to await her coming. Sister Tabor had been ill for a long time, and last fall she felt that she had grown cold in the Saviors love and Rev. J.E. Johnston, of Branchland charge, and a number of other christians met at her home and held a meeting, and she was restored and praised God. While her afflictions grew worse she clung to her savior and for the last two to four weeks, her dear mother stayed by her side and other relatives and friends did all they could for the dear woman, but the Savior saw and said, "Tis enough," Mother I can care for you better, and took her to his side, and while she was poor in this world she shall be rich forever more in Heaven.
Her remains were taken to the family cemetery at the Luke Adkins farm near the head of Big Laurel, where her funeral was preached by Rev. W.T. Black in the presence of a large congregation of relatives and friends and a real fine service was held, after which the body was laid to rest. She is survived by her husband, three little daughters and a son, her father and mother and two sisters and five brothers to mourn her departure.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.
II Timothy, 4-7.
