Merlin W. Trossen, a baker, who resided at 406A Park St., Manitowoc, died
Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, following a lingering
illness. He was 34.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First Lutheran Church,
Manitowoc. The Rev. Roland Schwandt will officiate and burial will be in
Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Trossen was born at Mishicot on Feb. 11, 1921, a son of Mrs. Ella Trossen
and the late William Trossen. He married the former Lucille Johnsen at Manitowoc
on May 20, 1944. They resided at Mishicot four years. The 1938 graduate of
Mishicot High School attended Dunwoody Institute at Minneapolis where he was
graduated in 1943? as a master baker.
He followed the baking trade successively at Wabeno and Milwaukee, Wis., and
Maywood, Ill., before opening Merle’s Pastry Shop at Manitowoc in 1952. He
operated the business until his illness in June of 1953?, when he retired.
Surviving him are his wife, a daughter, Kay Ann, and a son, Kenneth, of Manitowoc;
mother, Mrs. Ella Trossen of Mishicot; a brother, Calvin of Bryan, Tex.; and a
sister, Miss Fern Trossen of Manitowoc.
Friends may call at the Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, after 2 p.m.
Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday when the casket will be moved to the church where
the body will lie in state until the hour of service.
