ROBERT E. TOEPEL

ROBERT TOEPEL, REV. P. ERICKSON, VICTIMS OF FLU
Robert Toepel, well known young business man of the city, associated with the
Wernecke & Schmitz Hardware Co., passed away at his home, Saturday, his life
being sacrificed to flu-pheumonia from which he had been ill only a week. The
death of Mr. Toepel is a great shock to friends. A young man in robust health,
he was the last person who might be expected to pass so suddenly.
Mr. Toepel was born at Cleveland, this county, May 20, 1888 and was educated
in the county schools. He was employed at Sheboygan for some time and later
came here where he was married Sept. 20, 1913 to Harriet Wernecke, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wernecke, who with two children, Henry and Robert, survive.
Four brothers and three sisters also survive, Magnus, Gustave of Neenah,
William of Cleveland and the Rev. Carl Toepel of Newton; Mrs. M. Brinkman,
Sheboygan, Miss Louise, at home and Mrs. Otto Kielsmeier, of this city. And
aged mother at Cleveland also survives.
Mr. Toepel was a member of the Lutheran Men's Choir and of the Young Men's
society and was active in the organization work of the church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at the late home, Rev.
Machmiller officiating.
