Pioneer of County and Mother of Herman and Charles Tills Passes Away at
Daughters Home
Mrs. John Tills, 68, a pioneer resident of the county, passed away late
yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anton Krumdick, 917 South
Twentieth street. Although not in the best of health she has been able to be up
and about and at Thanksgiving time was the central figure at a reunion of the
Tills family at the Krumdick home.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Minnie Sengbusch, was born at Mecklenburg,
Germany in 1863 and came to this country at an early age, the family settling in
the town of Liberty. She was married there in 1880 to John W. Tills and they
took up their home on a farm in the town of Kossuth. Fifteen years ago they
retired to locate at Rockwood and on the death of Mr. Tills ten years ago Mrs.
Tills removed to this city to take up her home at 929 South Eighteenth street.
3 Sons, Daughter, Survive
The deceased is survived by three sons, Herman C. of Rockwood, Charles H. of
this city, and John C. of Whitefish Bay, and one daughter, Mrs. Ida Krumdick.
There are eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the Krumdick home
on South Twentieth street and at two oclock from the German Lutheran church
with interment at Evergreen cemetery.
The remains may be viewed tonight from 7 to 9 at the Wattawa, Urbanek and
Schlei funeral home and will be removed to the home of the daughter tomorrow
morning.
