Marcille E. Tills, age 79, 2120 Menasha Ave., Manitowoc, Wis., died
April 3, 1999, in Manitowoc.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First German Evangelical
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bruce Bitter officiating. Burial will
follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Marcille was born Dec. 31, 1919, the daughter of the late Walter and
Clara Paape Schmidt.
She was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1938.
Marcille had been employed at Lincoln High School as a library aide for
many years before retiring.
She married Chester Stechmesser on Oct. 17, 1942, at First German
Evangelical Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death in 1969. She
then married Elmer Tills in 1974 at First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church. He preceded her in death in 1987.
Marcille was a lifetime member of First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church, the First German Ladies Aid and the church's choir.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sandy
Stechmesser, Sewickley, Pa.; two daughters, Shelley and Steve Collins,
Oshkosh, and Bonni and Bill Anderson, Spokane, Wash.; three
grandchildren, Jill Stechmesser, Karl Stechmesser and Paul Stechmesser;
one sister and brother-in-law, Carole and Howard Pleuss, Appleton, Wis.;
and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Stechmesser, her
second husband, Elmer Tills, and one sister, Bette Huck.
Friends may call at First German Evangelical Lutheran Church on Tuesday
from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Memorials would be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran
Church or the American Cancer society.
The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
