ROBERT F. THORPE M.D.

Robert F. Thorpe, MD, age 88, of Fresno, Calif., died on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009,
in Fresno.
Robert was born on Sept. 15, 1920, in Oblong, Ill., son of the late Jasper R.
and Della (Siler) Thorpe. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corp
during World War II. He married the former Arlene R. Rieck. She preceded him in
death in 1982. He received his Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois
and his MD from the University of Illinois Medical School. Robert served his
internship and residency at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Ill. He was the co-
founder of the Manitowoc Clinic in 1950 and practiced pediatrics there from 1950
until his retirement in 1985. Robert was a member of the Manitowoc Optimist Club
and Branch River Country Club. He enjoyed golf.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at the Reinbold
& Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc. The Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer
will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends
may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of service at
1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in the name of Robert F.
