Alvin P. Thielen, 69, of 1340 N. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Thursday afternoon in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday in First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Norval W. Kock will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Thielen was born Feb. 18, 1909 in Manitowoc, son of the late Gustave and Anna Kreutz Thielen. He attended Manitowoc schools and was a Manitowoc resident all his life. Oct. 23, 1934 he married Alvira Voland in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners. Mr. Thielen was employed with Mirro Alumunum Company for ?? and one half years, retiring in March of 1974. He was a member of First German Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mirro Management Club, Kiwanis Golden K Club and Men's Garden Club of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife, Alvira, a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Mary Sue Thielen and a daughter and son-in-law, Caryn and Joel Sitkiewitz of Manitowoc; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Ida) Goralski of Wausau; five grandchildren, Kim, Lisa and Rebecca Thielen and Deborah and Daniel Sitkewitz, nieces and nephews. A sister, Mae Ahrens, preceded him in death.
Friends may call in Urbanek and Schlei Funeral Home, Manitowoc, 4 o'clock to 9 o'clock this Friday afternoon and in the church from 9 am Saturday until the time of service. Memorials would be appreciated to First German Evangelical Lutheran Church.
