Roy Don Thacker, 58, son of Donald Eric Thacker and Peggy C. Gourley Thacker, was born Jan. 8, 1946, at West Plains. He died July 23, 2004, at Conway Regional Medical Center.
He was a 1964 graduate of Houston High School. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was attached to the electronics depot at Fort Tobyhanna, Pa. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
He attended Mid-West Aviation School in Kansas City for air frame mechanic. He graduated in 1974 with honors.
Mr. Thacker was in maintenance in the downtown city metro complex in Kansas City. He retired from KC Metro in 1990 and moved to Conway, Ark.
He worked in maintenance at the physical plant for the University of Central Arkansas for several years.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are two brothers, Stephen E. Thacker of Greenbrier, Ark., and David E. Thacker of Belleville, Ill; a sister, Frances Schmutzler; and his mother of Conway, Ark.
Memorial services were July 26 at the Liberty Creek Nazarene Church. Burial with military honors was July 27 at the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Conway, Ark.
