Funeral services for George Teporten, 72, of 2714 Calumet Ave., Manitowoc, who
died Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, were at 9:30 a.m.
Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic
Church. The Rev. Edward Nowakowski officiated and burial was in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Pallbearers, nephews, were Clarence and Edward Wertz, Marvin Vnuk, Melvin
Bartel, Joseph Greinyer, and John Schmeichel.
Mr. Teporten was born Jan. 2, 1887, at Colby, son of the late John and Susan
Braun Teporten. He moved to Manitowoc with his parents when he was very young.
He was employed at Rahr Malting Co., Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., and as a
boilermaker before retiring seven years ago. He married Sophie Woerfel July 1,
1919, and the couple resided at Manitowoc. A veteran of World War I, he was
with the Supply Co. of the 379th Infantry. He was also a member of the Boiler-
makers Local No. 443.
Survivors include three brothers, John of Madison and Fred and Joe of Manitowoc;
two sisters, Miss Susan Teporten and Mrs. Charles Bartel of Manitowoc; and
several nieces and nephews.
The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the funeral home.
