Robert J. Taylor, age 86, resident of North Ridge Health & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, died Monday morning, November 14, 2005.

He was born November 4, 1919, in Cumberland, WI, son of the late Phillip and Henrietta (Umhofer) Taylor. He was a graduate of Cumberland High School, Class of 1937.

Bob was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was a Communications Sergeant and served with Company B, 376th Infantry, 94th Division in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Silver and Bronze Star Medals. He was discharged November 16, 1945.

On August 20, 1941, Robert married the former Rogene Grover at St. Mary Catholic Church in Cumberland. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1982. On November 3, 1984, he married the former Marlene Mahik at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

Bob managed the Capitol, Mikadow and outdoor theaters in Manitowoc for the Marcus Corp. of Milwaukee from 1962 until his retirement in 1984. He served on the board of directors of the Salvation Army and was also a member of The Travelers Protective Association, American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 and the Noon Rotary.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Taylor, Manitowoc; three daughters, Joleece Bown, Jeri & Chuck Binns Jr., & Jana Christensen, all of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Martin (Dean) of Newhall, California & Dorothy Haas (Bill), Loveland, Colorado; two brothers, John (Gloria) Taylor of Plum City, Florida & Barney (Joellyn) Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are numerous nephews and nieces and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gerald Taylor and three sisters, Marge Burns, Marie Kleckner & Helen Herman.

Burial of cremains was in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, with Graveside military rites accorded by the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88.
