Mrs. W. M. Ballew
Funeral service for Mrs. Oddie
Sylvester Ballew, 68, mother of
Andrew Ballew, Springdale fire
chief, who died early Saturday
morning at the home of her son
on Center street were held Mon-
day afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
chapel of the local Callison and
Riggs Funeral home. The services
Were conducted by Rev. W.W.
Albright, pastor local First
Methodist church. Special music
was by Mrs. Florence Brooks and
Mrs. B. Price, accompanied at the
Piano by Mrs. J. Roy Joyce.
Pallbearers were John Downum,
B.B. Brogdon, J.A. Trice, Alfred
Adams, Harry Hays and Jim Smith.
Burial was in Friendship cemetery,
East of Springdale.
Mrs. Ballew was born January 22,
1872 in Harrison county, Missouri,
a daughter of Andrew E. Sylvester
of Kentucky and Elizabeth E. Butler
of Ohio. Mrs. Ballew had been
resident of Springdale since 1913,
Mr. Ballew died in 1936. Besides
her son here she is survived by
another son, Elmer of Huntsville;
three daughters Mrs. Charles
O' Dell, Oakland, Calif., Mrs.
J.W. Bray, Tulsa and Mrs. Ray
Watson, Springdale; two brothers,
M. Sylvester of Wheatridge, Colo.,
and John Sylvester of Denver; one
sister, Mrs. Etta Masden of Denver,
seven grandchildren and two great-
grandchildren.
