She was a member of Bella Vista Church since 1984. Mr. and Mrs. Alles went to school together and got in trouble for holding hands. After graduating from Rockford High School in 1944, Yvonne worked at a phone company in Greenville. She and her husband owned a farm, and Yvonne was involved with Blue Birds and also worked on many committees at the church they attended.
In 1956, Yvonne and her husband started caring for foster children, and through the years she was a foster mom to 65 children. Yvonne and her daughter enjoyed participating in the Stephen Ministry at Bella Vista Church. Yvonne was a humble person who cared about people.
Yvonne and Ray looked forward to traveling and to the camping trips, especially the 30 years at Horsehead Lake. Those trips were special times when all the family could be together. Mr. & Mrs. Alles had the gift of kissing each other three times – when he left for work, when he came home, and when they went to bed. The night Ray died on October 12, 1900 he gave her two kisses, and Yvonne knew that she would get her third kiss when they were united in Heaven.
She is survived by her children, Mike and Kathy Alles of Grand Haven, Jim and Pat Alles and Judy Alles, all of Rockford; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, William (Pat) Switzer of Plainwell; nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including Jean Borst, Nella Holbrook, and Margaret Ransom. She was preceded into Heaven by her husband and sisters, Geraldine Parmelee and Frieda Switzer, and brother Donald Switzer. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Re-Member, an outreach to the Oglala Lakota Indian tribe in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
