Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 19 at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m., today and on Wednesday from 11 a.m., until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer's Association.
Aurdena Mary Sweet was born on June 8, 1918, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Anna Mae (Boyle) Sweet. She was a graduate of Tipton High School. In 1941, Aurdena was united in marriage to Horace Emrich. For more than 20 years, Ardena worked as a Housekeeper for The University of Iowa Hospitals, later retiring in 1981. She loved to crochet, watch western movies and scrapbook.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary (Joe) Robertson of Iowa City; one son, Harley Emrich of Iowa City; three grandchildren, Joanna Robertson of Iowa City, Elizabeth Jenkins of New Virginia, IA, and Heather Robertson of Iowa City; and three great-grandchildren, Michelle, Scott and Stevie Jenkins, all of New Virginia, IA.
Aurdena was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
