MRS. JOHN LEVELL RITES WEDNESDAY
-MOTHER OF ALFRED LEVELL SUCCUMBS SUNDAY AT DES MOINES, IOWA
Funeral services for Mrs. John Levell, mother of Alfred Levell of this city, were Wednesday afternoon at the McLaughlin Chapel. Mrs. Levell died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.E. Lake in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Mrs. Levell, whose maiden name was Laura Belle Swearengin, was born Oct. 6, 1872 in Chariton County. She and John Quincy Levell were married Mar. 20, 1890 and eight children were born to this union. Mrs. Levell spent her entire life in this community except the last two years she spent in Des Moines.
She became a member of the Baptist Church many years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband and four children, three dying in infancy and a son, Everett on Feb. 22, 1947.
Besides the son of this city and the daughter in Des Moines, Mrs. Levell leaves two other daughters, Mrs. Ada Littrell of New Cambria, and Mrs. Ruth Boyer of Denver, Colorado; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
