Leola Emogene Kelly Swearengin was born on December 10, 1922 in Prague, OK, and passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2007 in Waco, TX at the age of 84. Mrs. Swearengin, the daughter of Mary Victoria (Pevehouse) and Kern Riley Kelly was a longtime resident of Del City, OK before she and Bob, her husband of 68 years, moved to Waco, TX to be with their daughter, Bobbie Winkles. She was married to Bob L. Swearengin on October 15, 1938 in Chandler, OK. Leola was the principal's secretary of Sooner Rose, Tinker and Parkview Elementary Schools in Del City for twenty-three years. She was a member of Carter Park Baptist Church and First Southern Baptist Church of Del City and Columbus Avenue Baptist Church of Waco. Survivors include her husband, Bob; her three daughters, Bobbie Winkles, Waco, TX, Kathy Upchurch, Phoenix, AZ, Kris Fisher and husband, John of San Antonio, TX; and one son, Michael Swearengin and Joy Caton of Phoenix, AZ. She has eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Many friends and family members will miss her. Funeral services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service. A reception will follow the service 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at Don's Alley.
