ASHLAND - Mary Belle Baker, 83, died May 7, 2004, at Ashland Health Center.

She was born Dec. 3, 1920, at Ashland, the daughter of Roy Emerson and Bertha Irene Currier Swayze. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1940 and Dodge City Business College. A resident of Ashland, she was a health care worker and receptionist for Dr. Ivan Burkett.

She belonged to First Christian Church and Ashland Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

On May 31, 1946, she married Ralph A. Baker at Ashland. He survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Ronnie, Dodge City; three daughters, Vivian Dome, Ashland, Martha Arnold, Hutchinson, and Cetra Salmans, Hanston; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Willis H.

Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church, Ashland, with the Rev. Joe Conaway and Minister Jim Sutherland presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday, both at Myatt Funeral Home, Ashland. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ashland.

Memorials may be sent to Ashland Health Center Long Term Care Unit, in care of the funeral home.
