US Congressman. During the Civil War he enlisted in the Union Army, and was commissioned 1st Lieutenant of Company K, 17th Maine Volunteer Infantry on August 18, 1862. He served until he was honorably mustered out on November 19, 1862. He was elected as a Republican to represent Maine's 2nd Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1908 to 1911.
