Ethel G. Dobbins, 92, of McAlisterville died of natural causes at 2:25 p.m., August 6, 1995 at Brookline Manor Convalescent Home, Mifflintown RR 1, where she had been a resident since March 1995.

She was born in Greenwood Township August 12, 1903, the daughter of thelate David B. and Ada [Zeiders] Swartz.

She is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Mae House of McAlisterville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert L. Dobbins, on September 22, 1969; a grandson, Richie House; seven brothers, and three sisters. She is the last of the Swartz family.

She attended Dimmsville Grammar School and Millersville State College, where she earned her licensed practical nurse certificate.

She was employed as a licensed practical nurse by Harrisburg State Hospital for 12 years and as a seamstress for Shellenberger and Son's garment factories in McAlisterville and East Salem until her retirement in 1983.

She was a member of Lost Creek Presbyterian Church.

The funeral service was held Thursday, August 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Rev. Elaine L. Fogarty officiating. Interment followed in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery, McAlisterville. Viewing was held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
