Cleo M. Baker

Cleo M. Swank Baker, 94, of Vandergrift, formerly of Washington Township, died Monday, March 3, 2008, at Armstrong County Health Center, Kittanning. She was born July 1, 1913, in Brick Church, a daughter of the late John T. and Bertha (Held) Swank. Cleo was a member of First Church of God in North Apollo for more than 75 years and at one time she was a very active member. She was a dedicated participant of the church missionary society. Cleo loved quilting and tatting. She did in-home care for shut-ins in the valley and was also employed by West Haven Nursing Home in Washington Township. She is survived by four sons, Boyd E. Baker and his wife, Patty, of Freeport, Thomas F. Baker and his companion, Suzanne Pahls, of the Villages in Florida, Merle D. Baker and his wife, Carol, of Jeannette, and Gerald A. Baker and his wife, Marleen, of Franklin, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Cleo was preceded in death by her husband, Schuyler Lloyd Baker, who died Dec. 18, 1963; two brothers, Emmanuel G. and Ira F. Swank; and two sisters, Merzina H. Collins Williamson and Blanche Waltenbaugh Williams. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Thursday in KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Lee Rupert, of First Church of God in North Apollo, officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Apollo.
