Hope Magleby was the oldest child of Orson and Margaret Magleby born 19 March 1891 in Monroe, Utah. She had a love of music and studied music and education at BYU Academy, McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City, and continued her musical training in San Francisco and at Brigham Young University. She was the ward organist and taught piano lessons.
Hope married Ray Swain 28 Sept. 1916 in Manti Temple. They had one son, R. Jordan (R.J.) Swain. She was a wonderful homemaker and an avid reader. Traits embedded in her character were: love, understanding, compassion and kindness which manifest themselves in her actions as a wife, mother, and friend.
Hope died in an automobiled accident near Springfield, Missouri 25 May 1942 at the age of 51.
