|Birth: ||Jul. 6, 1918|
|Death: ||Aug. 26, 2005|
Our dearly loved mom, grandmother, great-grand-mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Elva Theola Swain, slipped peacefully away Friday, August 26, 2005, after a short illness. She celebrated her 87th birthday July 6th at the park, picnicking and watching great-grand-children laugh and play.
Theola was born July 6, 1918 in Park City, Utah to loving parents Charles and Phoebe Orgil Remund. She lived her entire life in Wasatch County, graduating from Wasatch High School.
Married Jay Watson Swain October 1, 1936 and two years later solemnized their love in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Theola worked beside her husband while he operated the LDS Welfare Farm at Hailstone, and was the secretary of Wasatch High School for 24 years, being a mom to all the students. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent many years serving in the Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She and Jay were stake missionaries and temple workers.
Theola loved participating in the Senior Citizen group in the valley, attending activities and traveling, but her favorite thing to do was spend time helping her grandchildren and watching her great-grandchildren participate in sporting activities. She took great pride in caring for her own lawn and flowers. Her crocheting and quilting talents will be felt for generations to come.
Theola is survived by her daughter, Elva (Richard) Baum; sister, Jeanine (Dan) McKenzie; stepbrother, Lloyd Remund; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; two sons, Mark J. and Phil J.; three sisters, Arthella Bethers, Velda Widdison, Arlene Sinclair; stepsister, Helen Clark; and brother, Leon Remund.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 11 a.m. in the Heber LDS 5th Ward, 200 North 200 West, Heber City. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 North Main Street, Heber City, and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the LDS church. Interment will be in the Heber City Cemetery.
