Services for Carl Svendsen, 79, of 4942 N. Winchester Av., a circus clown who suffered a fatal heart attack Thursday night while performing in Dyche Stadium, Evanston, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel at 4821 N. Damen Av.

Mr. Svenden's daughter, Mrs. Caroline Giles, said he started his circus career as as water boy 68 years ago and once was a trapeze artist and acrobat. But he performed to years as a clown under the name of Carl Marx. His trademark was a flashing light on his nose. He was stricken while performing with the International Apollo Circus in a benefit for the Evanston Hospital Association. He had appeared in a number of circuses and at one time performed a solo act in the College Inn of the Sherman House for several years.
