Roy Sutton - Sandpoint
"Visitation for Roy Dale Sutton, 70, will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Seneacquoteen Cemetery near Priest River, Idaho.
Mr. Sutton, who was born in Sperry, Okla., died Saturday. He lived in Oklahoma and Missouri before moving to California.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
In 1952 he married Jean Oulette. He moved to Sandpoint in 1959 and worked as a heavy-equipment operator and also worked in the logging industry. He later worked for Russell Oliver and Jerry Fitzpatrick, and also plowed snow for Schweitzer Ski Basin for 17 years, before retiring in 1996.
Mr. Sutton was a musician and enjoyed playing stringed instruments. He had played in bands in California. He was active in writing fiction, hunting and fishing.
His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Forgey of Petersburg, Ark., and Barbara Trout of Colburn, Idaho; a son, Tom Sutton of Colburn; two brothers, Ray Sutton of Sagle, Idaho, and Craig Sutton of Clark Fork, Idaho; four sisters, Darlene Hartley of Ukiah, Calif., Edna Bossom of Ponderay, Idaho, Carol Gilson of Sagle and Sherry Kelley of Sandpoint; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild."
