Mrs. Sara Heitzenrater.
Mrs. Sara Heitzenrater, wife of John H. Heitzenrater of near Trade City, died in Punxsutawney Sunday morning after an illness which began in March. She was about 78 years old.
The deceased was born March 15, 1844, in Schuylkill county, Pa., a daughter of Daniel and Catherine Sutter. When five years of age, Mrs. Heitzenrater came to Covode with her parents and settled on what is known as the Sutter farm. She lived there with her parents until November 3, 1864, when she was united in marriage to John H. Heitzenrater and moved to a farm near Round Top church where she lived until about five years ago when she and her husband moved to the Bungalow near Trade City. She was a member of the Covode Presbyterian church for nearly forty years. Mrs. Heitzenrater was one of the finest women in this section and her death is mourned by all who had ever come in contact with her. Patient, kindly, charitable, a good wife and mother, she was the type of woman which helped make America what it is today.
She is survived by her husband, three sons and six daughters, as follows: Malinda, at home; Mrs. John Gearhart, Covode; Miss Susan H., Punxsutawney; Samuel H., Trade City; William H., DuBois; Mrs. Lillie M. Brown, Railroad, Pa.; Mrs. Edward Richards, Sharon: Mrs. Burt Frederick, Railroad; James H., living at the old home, and two adopted children; Phillip Boyer, of Clearfield, and Bertha Sutter Fleck, Rossiter, in addition to these 32 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Susan Swab, of Splankles Mill's, also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at her late home this (Wednesday) afternoon at two o'clock by the Rev. C. B. White, pastor of the Covode Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Round Top cemetery.
