He was a native of Clinchco, Va. and had recently moved here coming from Caldwell, Idaho. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Navy. He owned and operated the D Bar Ranch in Smith Ferry, Idaho. He was a life member of the Disabled Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Sutherland.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel E. Sutherland III of Fayetteville, Ark., and Michael and Darlene Deel of Palatka; one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Larry Dean of Redding, Calif.; sister, Billie Durand of Port Austin, Mich.; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
