Callia Sutcliffe Aman died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, in Phoenix, Ariz.
Callia graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1969 with a degree in education and taught a few years before marrying Richard Aman in 1974 and starting a family in 1976. They made homes near Richard's jobs with the Park Service and various government jobs, ending up in Rawlins.
In Rawlins, Callia owned and operated Callia's Pet Shop. Later, she worked in several retail businesses in Rawlins until the first of this year, when she became unable to work. She was active in starting the Choir Loft at St. Thomas Episcopal Church and served the less fortunate on many Thanksgivings and Christmases.
She had gone to Arizona to be close to her sister, Julia Miller, and cousin, Clara Trulove, while undergoing complicated surgery.
Callia's love for animals and gardening were an important part of her life. She enjoyed handiwork and making quilts. She was a member of Philanthropic Educational Organization Chapter AF, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 7, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She had a strong faith in the Lord.
Callia was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Carol Aman in 1989; husband, Richard Aman in 2001; parents, Howard and Muriel Sutcliffe; and nephew, Trey Sutcliffe (1978 - 2005). Trey was born March 29, 1978, and died February 17, 2005 at 26 years old.
She is survived by her brother, William H. Sutcliffe; sister, Julia (Martin) Miller; nieces, Frances Miller and Dorothy (James Davidson) Miller; and grand-niece, Amaya Christina Davidson.
A memorial service was planned for the Spring 2011 in Rawlins.
