Mary Fowler Sullivan Burnett, 83, a resident of in Fayetteville, died Sunday (July 6, 2008) at Donalson Health Care in Fayetteville.
Born in Nashville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Fowler Sullivan and Mary Taylor Holt Sullivan and a graduate of West End High School in Nashville. Mrs. Burnett was a long-time member of Fayetteville
First Baptist Church.
She was married Dec. 19, 1948 to William Porter Burnett, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant. Their marriage spanned 48 years until his death Aug. 23, 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Anna Boyd Burnett Noles of Fayetteville; a son, William Porter "Bill" Burnett, III, of Nashville; grandchildren, Bonnie Burnett Noles of Fayetteville and William Holt Burnett of Memphis; a great-grandchild, William Holden Burnett of Alton, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Allen Sullivan, and an aunt and uncle, Margaret Holt Andrews and Dr. D. B. Andrews.
Funeral services conducted at Oakes & Nichols with the Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial in Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
Pallbearers are Jerry White, David White, Ray Hibler, and William Massey.
Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia in charge of arrangements.
