daughter of John and Margaret (McAllister) Sullivan
wife of Louis P Benoit.
----

WINOOSKI, Vt./GREENSBORO, N.C. - Alice Benoit, 87, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, in Greensboro, N.C., where she resided with her daughter Mary and husband Jim.

She was born on March 11, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Margaret (McAllister) Sullivan.

Alice was married in Philadelphia in 1942, to Louis P. Benoit.

He predeceased her on April 23, 2006.

Alice and Paul raised their family in Winooski. In 1974 they moved to Cambridge, Vt. and then later moved back to the old Winooski neighborhood in 2001 and reconnected with their many dear friends. She will be remembered for the beautiful sewing and knitting she did for her children and grandchildren, and the many nutritious meals she made. The many holiday gatherings were made memorable because of the delicious food and her recipes have been passed throughout the family. Alice loved to garden with Paul when they moved to Cambridge and their flowers adorned the Altar of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Alice will also be remembered for her deep spirituality that guided her throughout her life. She had a loving connection to animals; her German Shepherds, her cats and hundreds of songbirds she fed daily.

Alice is survived by her seven children, Ronald Benoit and his wife Julia of North Carolina, Christopher Benoit of Morrisville, Mary Rippin and her husband James of North Carolina, Paula Pyle and her husband John Horn of Florida, Alicia Benoit and her husband Michael Clark of Walden, Vt., Susan Benoit and her husband Christopher Turner of New York, and Matthew Benoit and his wife Yvonne Terry of Colorado; seven grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; a sister-inlaw, Virginia Burns and her husband Dan; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Winooski.

Interment will follow in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Colchester. Immediately following the burial there will be a celebration of life gathering at the Doubletree Hotel on Williston Road in South Burlington. There will be no visiting hours.

Arrangements are by the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski.
