Charles "Ottie" Styer, 79, a fun-loving family man, died June 3 in Millsboro, Del., of natural causes.
Styer, a Lancaster native and 1951 graduate of J.P. Mc-Caskey High School, was married 59 years to Joyce Fry Styer, of Dagsboro, Del. Formerly of East Petersburg, they enjoyed family gatherings, boating, fishing, traveling and golfing.
A manufacturing engineer, he retired from National Bearings Co. in Lancaster.
Besides his wife, Styer is survived by four daughters: Linda, wife of Lloyd Lockard, Lancaster; Kathy Styer, who lives with Paul Bomberger, Chalfont; Luann, wife of Wayne Pearson, Marietta; and Dawn, wife of Glenn Mull, Mount Joy. Also surviving are: a sister, Judy McKinley, Leola; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John "Mooney" Styer.
He's a son of the late Ira N. "Spib" Styer and Anna Rankin Styer, and a U.S. Navy veteran.
His family plans a memorial service at Leola United Methodist Church on June 12 at 4:30 p.m., followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Leola War Memorial.
