Dudley Sturgis
Gaffney, SC - - Dudley Clarence Sturgis, III, 62, of 235 Rolling Hill Circle, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 13, 2010 at his residence. Born in Rock Hill, he was the husband of Christine McAbee Sturgis for 27 years and son of the late Dudley Clarence Sturgis, Jr. and Lila Wayne Pugh Sturgis. Mr. Sturgis was a graduate of Rock Hill High School, attended Winthrop College and retired from the textiles industry. He was a member of Mount Ararat Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dudley Clarence Sturgis, IV of the home; two daughters, Shannon Sturgis of St. Louis, MO and Christian Leigh Sturgis of Beaufort, SC; a stepdaughter, Pamela Denise Fitzgerald and husband, Michael of Marion, VA; a brother, Tommy Sturgis and wife, Belinda of Rock Hill; three sisters, Lila Sullivan of Salem, VA, Carol Cole of Roebuck, SC and Sallie Robinson and husband, Erik of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Dawkins. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Draytonville Baptist Church. Memorial services will immediately follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Dr. Keith Harrill officiating. The family will be at the residence
