She was the daughter of Carroll Chase Sturgis and Helen Fletcher Cooper. She was baptized October 31, 1911 by E. L. Hubbard, Clergyman; sponsors were the parents and maternal grandparents.
Anna married Francis D. Courtney October 26, 1934 Ellicott City, MD.
Anna worked for Gen. Wild Bill Donovan at OSS during WWII, then a stock brokerage, Makel & Coe, in Washington, DC. She retired from the Federal Reserve. She was also a qualified navigator in boating world (Power Squadron) and loved the water.
It was her wish to have her ashes scattered in the Chesapeake Bay. Those of both Anna and Francis were scattered together in the Bay on a line between Bloody Point lighthouse on the eastern shore and the mouth of West River on the western shore.
