CHATFIELD -- The funeral for Eileen Marie Asher will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota, with the Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Chatfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Asher, 92, of Chatfield, died Thursday (May 17, 2007) at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she had been a resident the past two years.
She was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Chatfield, where she attended school and graduated from Chatfield High School. She went on to attend Winona Business College. On March 28, 1936, she married Earl Asher in Byron. The couple farmed in the Eyota area. She worked for Eyota Produce and later spent 18 years working for Dover-Eyota Public Schools in food service. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include a daughter, Audrey (Archie) Evans of Eyota; two sons, William (Diane) of Minnetonka, Minn., and Roger (Sharon) of West Des Moines, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathlyn Horton of Saint Croix Falls, Wis.; and a brother, Darrell (Gerry) Sturgis of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Homes in Eyota and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
