She was born June 3, 1900 in Monona County, Iowa, one of eleven children of parents Ira Edward and Effa (Pembrook) Struble.
After graduating from high school, she studied at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and taught at one of the rural grade schools.

Mildred was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and faithfully supported the activities and teachings that it stood for. She especially enjoyed working with the younger youth groups, sharing with them her faith and knowledge to help set guidelines to the future.
She also enjoyed associating with many other groups, helping with 4-H work, gardening, quilting, cooking and assisting with numerous charitable activities.
Mildred enjoyed her home in Lamoni and the many friends she had come to know before she fell and broke her hip in July 1989. As she recovered from this set-back, it was found that she needed more professional care and came to reside at the Regency Health Care Center in Olathe, Kansas in May 1990.
