She was born March 22, 1920, to Dr. Charles Russell Parrish and Edna Kohler Parrish Ward.
She attended High School in Beverly Hills, California, before returning to Utah to attend the University of Utah.
Barbara married James L. Strong on March 25th, 1940, in the L.D.S. Temple after a courtship of one day. There were dire predictions that the marriage would never last, but it endured until his death in 1993.
A volunteer in many civic organizations, Barbara was president of the Ballet West Guild, a charter member of the Assistance League of Salt Lake, and a 27-year member of the Gorgeous Gals Gourmet Group among several others. Her garden was a pleasure to her and a source of great pride; she was a member of the Neighborhood Garden Club.
She is survived by her sons Lance James Strong [Joanne] and Brett Charles Strong [Diana], grandchildren Christopher Brett Strong [Carole] and Lesley-Anne Strong Higgins [Rick] and great-grandson William Charles Higgins.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Karen Brown, for over forty years of loyal friendship.
A private ceremony was held for family, as per Barbara's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Best Friends Animal Society.
