Edmund Anthony Stroik, 92, of Shawano, formerly of Plover, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Shawano.
Edmund was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Stevens Point, son of the late Charles and Johanna (Witkowski) Stroik. On Oct. 10, 1953, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Harinek in Plover. Evelyn preceded him in death Feb. 24, 1979.
Edmund worked in the maintenance department at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point until retirement. He was a member of the St. Martin Catholic Church in Cecil. In his free time, Edmund loved to feed the birds and work in his yard. He also loved polka music and never missed a church picnic. Edmund will always be remembered for his awesome sense of humor.
Edmund is survived by his daughter, Mary Stroik of Shawano; nieces and nephews; his favorite pets, Turkey, Maggie and Sam; and special caring friends, Laurie Mansavage and Elsie Mansavage.
Edmund was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; a daughter, Theresa; his parents; three sisters, Ann Coffman, Irene Miller and Marion Zygowicz; and two brothers, Joe and Raymond Stroik.
