Dwight James Strobel, 61, of Sigourney, died Wednesday November 6 at his home south of Sigourney.
He was born October 29, 1924 in Keokuk County, son of Harold and Bonnie Smith Strobel. He graduated from Webster High School and was married to Mareva LaVonne Snakenburg July 31, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Sigourney. She died August 24, 1983. He worked for Starry Implement in Sigourney several years and in 1949 he and his brother, Cloyd, established Strobel Brothers Garage. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Webb Lodge AF and AM and Prairie Gold Rush Association.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Craig Strobel of Davenport, Daniel and Jim of Sigourney; one daughter Dianne McCaig of Sigourney; three grandchildren; one brother Cloyd of Sigourney and one sister, Geneva Brock of Cedar Rapids.
Funeral services were held Friday November 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Dobbins officiating and burial in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers were Dr. Craig Strobel, Daniel Strobel, Jim Strobel, Scott McCaig, Tom Greene, and Tony Hammes.
