Inez Marie Hahn, age 82, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2016. During 10 years of cancer, Inez gracefully embraced her cross to bear, until the good Lord called her home. Inez told her family, “I am at peace with God and know I am going to Heaven.” She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and friend to many. We will all remember her deep faith, positive attitude, friendly personality, and sincere helping hand and unfailing generosity to others.

The first of 3 children, she was born on January 8, 1934 to the late Adolph and Marie Striedel in Yorktown, Texas. Inez was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown, where she continued to be a devout member. After her parents preceded her in death at a young age, Inez was raised by her loving Aunt Minnie Striedel and her grandparents, Adolph and Hulda Striedel, along with her 2 younger brothers and her cousin Velma Lee Hennig, Her brother Adolph preceded her in death, and she is survived today by her brother Lawrence Striedel. Of Yorktown.

Inez married on May 21, 1954 in Victoria to Edward Hahn, who was her best friend, and life long partner for 58 years. Edward Hahn, passed to Heaven in 2012. After marriage, they lived with Edward’s father, Fred G. Hahn (“Pa”), who was a very special person in Inez’s life. Edward and Inez were best friends and rarely apart as they farmed and ranched together in Yorktown.

Inez loved dearly her two daughters and son-in-laws, Kristy and Larry Serold of Seguin, and Sylvia and Bill Imhoff of Austin. Known affectionately as “Granny”, she will be remembered as the best Grandmother ever to her five (5) grandchildren: Nicholas Serold and wife Kimberly; Amanda Serold, Grant Imhoff and girlfriend Chelsea Bounds, of Dallas, and Blake and Sydney Imhoff of Austin. Some of her happiest days were spent with her grandkids, teaching them to read and write, play Dominoes (she won most of the time), building strong work ethics by working on the farm – she lead by example and earned high respect. The strength of her character and dedication to her family shines in those whom she leaves behind.

Inez’s relatives, including many nieces and nephews, and her many friends were very special to her as well. Ann Adix was like a “sister” and a very close dear friend to her.

Inez will be remembered as a passionate caring person who dedicated her life to those around her. Her lifelong volunteer work at her church and in the community was very important to her. She taught children’s Sunday School and then later enjoyed leading the adult Bible class at her church until recently. Inez was a scholar of the Bible, and salvation for all Christians was her mission in life. She often reminded others that “life is short, so make the most of each day”, and “all these earthly things cannot go to Heaven with you”. Inez took care of many aunts, uncles, and friends when in need. We all are a better person for knowing Inez.

The Visitation will be at Massey Funeral Home, 779 N. Riedel Yorktown, Texas on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 5-7 P.M. A Memorial Service to celebrate Inez’s life will be held Sunday, February 14, 2016, at 1 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 234 North Gohmert Street, Yorktown, Texas.
