Mrs. Lillie Strickland Barton, 85, of 348 Cornellson Road, Rydal, died Saturday, Oct. 24, at Gordon Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Gordon County Jan. 4, 1902, daughter of the late John Ellis and Lola Borders Strickland, and had spent her entire life here. She was a member of the Farmville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Neal Barton, Dec. 3, 1960. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and .... Barton, of Rydal, and ....Barton, of Fairmount; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, .... all of Lilburn, and ... Barton, of Marietta. Funeral services for Mrs. Barton were held Monday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Farmville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Archie Hayes officiating. Interment was in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Butler, Junior West, Guy Beason, Dr. John Ashley, Carl Waller, Virgil Chambera, Max Strickland, and Hugh Nix. Clifford Free Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
